Biography

Robert Sparks practices patent law with an emphasis in the chemical, mechanical and biochemical arts.  Dr. Sparks earned his Juris Doctor degree at SUNY Buffalo where he graduated with the ABA-BNA Award for Excellence in Intellectual Property Law. He was recommended for this award by his patent law professor, Robert Simpson. While in law school, he served as a law clerk in our firm, assisting our attorneys in patent prosecution.  Upon completion of law school, Dr. Sparks earned a Master of Laws degree in Intellectual Property Law from The George Washington University Law School.  Dr. Sparks has since earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry from the University of South Florida and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, completing post-doctoral studies at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School where he extended his experience in biomedical technology.

Dr. Sparks is a U.S. Navy Veteran and former satellite technician, where he exemplified the term “Sparky,” a term reserved for radiomen coined in World War II.

Dr. Sparks is passionate about inventions and technology and holds six issued United States patents in the biochemical arts, working closely with his mentor, Dr. Wayne C. Guida, at the University of South Florida, the first CEO and former President of Schrödinger, LLC, a publicly listed company on the NYSE.
